Home to the second largest tourist beach in Phuket, the lack of hotels on the beachfront here means that pretty much the entire stretch is public, making it quite a unique place to stay. However, this might give the impression that Karon’s beach is chock full of people. In reality, it actually remains relatively quiet, peaceful and – as it faces west – is also home to one of Phuket’s finest sunsets.
Aside from the beach, there’s also the iconic Big Buddha statue and several excellent places to eat, as well as a great selection of bars. Karon makes an ideal mid-point between the busiest and quietest parts of Phuket for those wanting to enjoy the best of both worlds.
