Mahatma Gandhi was born in Gujarat, India on October 2, 1869. Gandhi’s birthday is celebrated as a Public Holiday in India every year.

Gandhi is recognised for his fight to peacefully free India from British rule and for championing the rights of the Indian peoples. His life of simplicity and devotion, his methods of non-violence amd his wise words and teachings, have inspired many around the world.
