New Hotel with F1 Singapore Circuit View: The South Beach

Bright, shiny and towering over all the older buildings in the heritage precinct, Singapore’s brand new hotel, The South Beach, opened its doors on 3 September 2015. The first guests checked in that day, the very first to experience a stay in the delightfully contemporary hotel by uber-creative esteemed designer, Philippe Starck. That means curious, colourful, luxurious elements at every turn.

Situated along Beach Road opposite the iconic Raffles Hotel, from the looks of it The South Beach too promises to be quite the standout hotel.

1. On the inside it’s full of imaginative social spaces, fitted with eye-catching decor, has luxurious rooms and fancy amenities.

2.  On the outside, the building’s architecture curves in a most curious way, with several leafy ribbons of green at different levels.

The Formula 1 package 2015 is available for booking before the 18th of September. The package includes complimentary breakfast and welcome drinks for 2.

The South Beach is located at the Memorial (Turn 7) of the Marina Bay Street Circuit. (I know right?!) More than 70 rooms overlook the Memorial, some with ‘front row seats’ to Turn 7. The turns of course are the most exciting bits of any track where you get to hear the intense sounds of the gears changing, and watch the intense game of overtaking. So these rooms in the ‘Padang Terrace’ of The South Beach, are the best ones to get for the F1 period. Check out the ‘Deluxe Room (Showcase Me)’ rooms.

Besides the turn, from those select rooms, you can see the Formula 1 cars race down Raffles Boulevard at speeds of up to 280km/h. And further up the circuit, you’ll be able to see the drivers speed along Esplanade Drive and navigate Turn 14.

Alternatively, you can enjoy race night from the hotel’s ‘Imaginative Social Spaces’ like Ebb6 and Flow18, which offer a higher view of sections of the circuit. With the Singapore Grand Prix 2015 Hotel Promo, you enjoy exclusive access and canapés at the Sky Garden – Ebb6 which spans a 360 degree view. The South Beach offers various types of rooms across the luxury spectrum. For F1 views, there are a few options from the ‘Showcase Me’ Deluxe Rooms up to the luxury ‘Premier Suites’. On regular days, The South Beach has in total 4 room categories, then a step up the luxury ladder are the 4 kinds of suites. If you’re feeling exceptionally luxurious, go for the Chairman Suite or Presidential Suite — there’s only 1 of each!

All rooms include a complimentary mini-bar (non-alcoholic drinks and snacks), Ultrafast Wireless internet, designer bath amenities, oversized deep soak bathtub, rainfall shower heads and a heavenly bed with 400-thread count luxury sheets.

Premier Suite

My favourite thing about the South Beach hotel rooms is probably that they have day beds, separate from your sleep-time bed. Great for sitting up with a book (and snacking without leaving crumbs all over the bed).

There are also lots of little touches too that make you chuckle, like a cute postcard, the coolest bath mats I have ever seen, witty prints on water bottles and stationery… It’s hard to miss all the great designer touches in this hotel.
